No Pain Medication For Me

NO PAIN MEDICATION FOR ME

My name is JT Anderson. I lived for years with chronic back pain; some days good, some days bad. It was to the point of really not knowing what I could do for the relief. Throughout my life I witnessed my Dad being addicted to pain medication. As I got older, actually in my later teens, I asked my Dad how may he would take a day....about 6 to 9 was his reply. I asked if he was in pain and he told me not really, I just don't want to be in pain.

My dad died early in his life due to the pain medications slowly destroying his organs; affecting his heart, liver and kidneys. I never thought I would experience pain to such a degree where I would need medications as powerful as the medications my Dad used until about 5 years ago.

PAIN MAKES DECISIONS

My pain had become so severe I was ready to do anything for relief. It had become impossible to carry on my daily activities including my work. My doctor had prescribed pain medications, which I thought I would never take, but they gave no relief; only left me feeling "out of it" and unable to function.

Early one morning, about 1:30am, the pain was so severe I thought I was having a heart attack and my wife had to take me to the local emergency room. I was suffering from cold sweats, vomiting and no feeling in my right arm. These symptoms were caused from the pain medications, not a heart attack. I was treated and released; no pain medications for me!

Long story short, after consultations with my doctor, an MRI was scheduled and the results were 2 fractured discs and 2 bulging discs and I was referred to a neurosurgeon. According to this doctor, he offered epidural injections as an alternative to surgery and I agreed to try this option. The injections were in a series of 3. The first injection went fine; the second injection caused paralysis from my waist down for approximately four hours and they wheeled me out the back door! I told my wife I was not going back for the third but she insisted so I did. The relief I received was brief, only about 6 months and the pain returned.

After this, I was left with the option of more injections or surgery. I simply was not going to give in to back surgery. You see, two of my sisters have had multiple back surgeries. They all failed. One sister has gone so far as to have a device implanted in her back that sends a signal to her brain telling her she is not in pain. What?! What is actually going on in her back?

DISILLUSIONS

Being a back pain sufferer every doctor's treatment varies, from your Primary Care Physician to a Pain Management Physician, the treatment will be different. From a patient's point of view, I have never had a physician diagnose my situation accurately. Their recommendation is almost always take pain medication, don't lift anything heavy, and rest.

Problem; masking the symptoms does not help solve the problem.

MY PROBLEM, MY SOLUTION

BACK ON TRAC STARTED AS A SOLUTION FOR MY NEEDS WITH NO INTENTION OF BRINGING IT TO THE MARKET PLACE. I WAS AN INDIVIDUAL WITH BACK ISSUES AND WANTED RELIEF AND WAS DETERMINED TO COME UP WITH A PIECE OF EQUIPMENT THAT WOULD GET ME THE RELIEF I NEEDED.

Back on Trac Works!!! It will work for your patients and it will work for your practice.

How The Fear Of Change Has Affected My Journey

Linda Anderson | CEO

When JT and I started this journey with the invention and development of Back On Trac, we had no idea where or how we were to accomplish what we had in mind or even where to begin. All we knew at that very moment was that we wanted to create this piece of equipment that would help JT with his back pain.

Change for most of us can be very scary, the “not knowing” what is on the other side of the change. We started our company in 2011 but the development started many years before that. It was a trying time to say the least. We went through some really unethical people in those years and a lot of money before we finally came up with our “Dream Team”.

I pride myself for having and sticking to my strong values….commitment, faith, hard work. If it were not for that, I am not sure I would have made it through all of the CHANGE and the FEAR that change brought with it. When I take on a job or task, I am committed to see it through to the end. But believe me, there were times in those early years I thought, is it time to throw in the towel? Thank goodness we did not…I am so happy that we both pushed through the FEAR and the FEAR OF THE CHANGE.

Fast forward to May, 2014. We were vendors at the Mississippi State Chiropractic Association convention. Many doctors visited our booth and we sold several units. Then this one doctor, Dr. Mathew Mackey from Tupelo, came back by our booth on his way out. He asked us if we could stay over and bring Back On Trac to his office on Monday that he wanted his partner to try it. We told him were would be happy to. Monday we were introduced to Dr. Andy Barlow, Dr. Mackey’s partner and they own and operate CNC of Tupelo. Dr. Barlow is a Board Certified Chiropractic Neurologist and the Founder of the American Functional Neurology Institute (AFNI).

Long story short, he loved Back On Trac. He asked us into his office to ask us some questions and to tell us about AFNI. He said he would teach us exactly what Back On Trac does to help the patient and wanted us to attend his AFNI Seminars every month. It was an invitation and one would think that we would not have to even think about it, but here we go again with the CHANGE thing. We had never been in an office quite like theirs, running like clockwork, full of patients, a very busy scene and we knew nothing about this AFNI. I am happy to say we just took a big breath and said YES. It was a life changing moment for me personally and professionally for us both.

I have attended just about every single seminar (at least once a month, sometimes twice a month), not because I had to but because I wanted to. From May, 2014 to August, 2015 I went to class just like all of the doctors each month, took countless notes and studied. I took the test four times and on the fourth time, I passed the AFNI test and became the first “non-doctor” to ever pass it!

I am so proud of this accomplishment and happy that I did not let the FEAR OF CHANGE keep me from making that life changing decision that day. Attending the AFNI Seminars has changed me personally, I have grown, gained confidence in myself and my ability to achieve the goals I set for myself. In closing, don’t let FEAR or CHANGE keep you from trying something new or different.

Back On Trac is unique and we have all of the tools to offer you opportunities to set yourself apart and take your practice to a whole new level. I would like to challenge you……

Don’t let the FEAR of CHANGE control you and your decisions.
